About the Project

The Downtown Lighting and ADA Improvement Project consists of replacing the street lighting system (including light poles and bases, wiring, electrical cabinet and conduit), removing worn and uneven pavers, and replacing ADA-deficient pedestrian ramps.

This is a multi-phase, multi-year project throughout downtown. In 2024, the City completed the Lighting and Sidewalk replacement along Fuller Street between 1st and 3rd Avenue. Additional phases are expected over the next two years (2026 – Sommerville Street, 2027 – Lewis Street and 1st Avenue).

There are no direct assessments to property owners on this project, and the contractor has been asked to maintain access to residences and businesses. However, restrictions to on-street parking during construction are anticipated.

Construction began in mid-August and will continue into October. Restoration work is expected to begin by the week of Oct. 6.

In order to maintain the project schedule, the city has authorized the contractor to work from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. Extended hours beyond 7 p.m. and work on Saturdays (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) may occur when necessitated and approved by the city.
